Alyssa DuPree was born and raised in Houston, TX. After graduating from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Mass Communications in 2011, she worked in the Houston-area as a local journalist. In 2015, she received her teaching certification and has been working as a 6th grade Language Arts and Writing teacher. In February 2018, she began working to help organize March for Our Lives Houston, a march to uplift student voices for national gun reform. Since then, she has joined the board for Students Rise, an organization founded and led by Houston-area students which promotes the education and empowerment of students.
