HOUSTON, TX – January 17, 2017
Pantsuit Republic (PSR) has coordinated a statewide call to action among its membership, and in partnership with the Indivisible network, to meet with the staff of Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn at their offices across the state on Wednesday, January 18.
Members of both organizations will voice their concerns about Congress’ rush to dismantle the Affordable Care Act (ACA) without a viable proposal for replacement.
Last week, the U.S. Senate rejected amendments to preserve the most popular provisions of the ACA: preventing insurance companies from discriminating on the basis of pre-existing conditions, protecting accessible care in rural hospitals and for veterans, extending coverage to include mental health, and continuing parental coverage of adult children until age 26.
“We want to remind Senators Cruz and Cornyn that they have a remarkable opportunity here to advocate for the most vulnerable Texans and Americans as our fiduciaries. We will be watching them closely, and we will be heard,” says, Dr. Murphey.
